Editorial, review & corrections policy

SecurityBudget.com publishes planning estimates, not vendor promises. This policy explains how research moves from a source into the calculator, guides, reports, and articles—and how mistakes are corrected.

Research and sourcing

Pricing claims must link to a public vendor page, official marketplace, government dataset, named research report, or disclosed buyer-data source. Frameworks can establish what a program should cover, but they are not used as evidence of price. Estimates derived from several sources are shown as ranges with a confidence level.

Writing and review

Michael Reed prepares market and pricing analysis. Daniel Carter reviews sourcing, arithmetic, scope, and whether the wording is supported by the evidence. Omar Al-Farsi contributes industry and company-size context. SecurityBudget Research Team is the publishing organization. Named credits do not imply certifications or affiliations that are not explicitly listed.

Update cadence

Core benchmark and pricing inputs are reviewed at least quarterly. Annual research such as IBM Cost of a Data Breach, Verizon DBIR, and BLS wage data is reviewed when a new edition is published. Every source record includes a verification date; material changes update affected content and calculator assumptions together.

Corrections

Material corrections—such as a changed benchmark, incorrect unit, broken source, or calculation error—are applied to the shared dataset first and then to affected pages. The page’s “last updated” date changes when the correction alters meaning. Cosmetic edits do not reset the date.

Independence

SecurityBudget.com does not accept payment to rank a vendor, alter a price range, or feature a product. No affiliate commission is attached to calculator recommendations or source links. If that policy changes, the commercial relationship will be disclosed next to the relevant content.
